Key Objectives for English and Maths are:

English Objectives:

  • Write quickly in a fluent and legible style
  • Use rich and varied vocabulary
  • Write engaging stories with detail and dialogue
  • Use headings, subheadings and paragraphs
  • Evaluate and edit own work
  • Read aloud confidently, clearly and with expression
  • Understand what is read
  • Retrieve and record information
  • Participate in discussions about books
  • Follow spelling patterns and rules
  • Use a range of grammatical functions to improve a sentence

Maths Objectives:

  • Solve number and practical problems in one or more steps
  • Add and subtract numbers with up to 4 digits
  • Recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables to 9 x 9
  • Multiply up to four digits by one and two digit numbers
  • Solve simple problems involving fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Solve problems by converting units of measure
  • Estimate and compare and different angles
  • Identify a 2D and 3D shapes and their properties
  • Interpret and present data on a line graph

It is going to be an exciting year in Blue Class! We plan to:
