Early Years
The learning programme in our Nursery is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Our aim is to provide holistic learning in a safe, happy and stimulating environment through which all children are challenged and make excellent progress. We aim to develop confident, happy children, equipped with foundations to nurture a lifelong love of learning.
We build confident communicators, supporting every child as an individual across development in all areas of the Early Years and Foundation Stage.
We teach through play-based learning and have a different topic every term. We cover learning and development in all areas of the Foundation Curriculum. Our topics for the Nursery are:
- Getting to Know You
- Home Sweet Home
- What Shall We Wear?
- Paws and Claws
- Let's Go Shopping!
Areas of Learning
In the Nursery Curriculum, these areas include the following:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Assessment
Our children are assessed mainly through observations which are recorded in a Learning Journal. We take photographs and celebrate their work in our displays.
Conversations between school and home are very important and help us to get a broader picture of each child as a unique learner.
